Pope Leo XIV says AI must be disarmed and urges a ban on autonomous weapons
On October 30, Pope Leo XIV told a Vatican meeting of AI researchers that artificial intelligence must be "disarmed" and that decisions about human life, freedom and the use of force must stay under human oversight. He urged the states meeting in Geneva in November to take concrete steps toward banning lethal autonomous weapons.
