Eight US states sue OpenAI over ChatGPT safety for kids
Eight US states filed separate lawsuits against OpenAI on October 14, 2026, alleging that ChatGPT is an unsafe product that has harmed children and deceived parents. Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, West Virginia, Arkansas, Arizona, Idaho and Montana each sued in their own courts. OpenAI says it already ships age-specific protections and ChatGPT for Teens.
