Microsoft's MAI-DxO beats doctors on the hardest medical cases in a Science study
Microsoft AI has published its MAI Diagnostic Orchestrator in Science. The system simulates a panel of virtual doctors that ask questions, order tests and debate the diagnosis while watching the cost of every test. On 304 complex New England Journal of Medicine cases it was right 83% of the time, compared with 36% for generalist physicians who could use references. The catch: it was a controlled, text-only benchmark, specialists were not compared, and a real hospital study in Boston comes next.
